Would Give Toys That Were Made In China As Christmas Gifts?
With all the recalls lately, I am scared to buy toys and give them to my nephew for Christmas. Guess I will have to try to find something else that is made in another country.

Hello everyone, I happen to be a nurse case manager for lead poisoning. Please do not be falsely assured that a toy does not have lead if it did not make it to the recall list. Even if you’ve actively been checking the Consumer Protection website religiously which is now 15pages long w/ 100+ on each page, more things are leadrisk than you realize. Regarding hotwheels…Red Alert! Any toys whether they are minicars or robots or princess characters, if they are imported, and brightcolored, or dye-casted, and a child plays with it often then puts his hands in his mouth before his hands are washed… he is exposed. I’m following a child who had high leads; the home was abated, all toys before were thrown away. They moved back to the abated residence. Then his blood retested and it jumped 10points. I asked mother what was different in the home? Nothing else, but… She bought mini cars which he does put in his mouth. YUP! Sorry — I have to assume this was the cause… everthing else ruled out. Everyone — just be diligent and vigilant. Even keys, batteries are to blame…
How old is your nephew. You can give him hot wheels cars they never been recalled or anything. My boys play with just cars and I got them hot wheels cars. I had checked the websites lately to see if there were anymore recalls.
well i would maybe something like a race car deal everything is made in china now a days
If you are worried, why not try to make you own unique toys?
Try the local markets? Ask family and friends for ideas?
With the lead they are putting in the toys from China…I say only buy toys made in the USA. Maybe Taiwan but definitely not China. I wouldn’t give my dog a toy from there.
It’s really hard… seems like all toys are made in China.
It is a scary thing! their are toy’s that are made in the USA but you will have to do some searching
There haven’t been any reports of kids getting actually sick from the lead-tainted toys. (From the Aqua Dots. . . that’s a different story.) Yes, lead paint is dangerous, but unless I was buying for a baby who puts everything in his or her mouth, I’d buy them gifts made in China. And not EVERYTHING is tainted (though there is certainly the possibility that whatever you buy might be recalled).
There’s probably been lead in some of our products for a while. It sucks, but our plates are probably made in China, as are so many other things around the house. Until a specific item is recalled, I would still buy it.
Yes, I’d give toys that were made in China as a Christmas gift. I know that not all of the recalls were over the lead paint scare and I believe that no matter how many safeguards you have in place, you always run the risk of having a defective product.
From foods, to toys, to cars, the possibility of having some kind of recall exists. Rather than worry about the chance that something could go wrong, I’d pick up a toy that was made in China if I knew it would bring happiness to the person receiving it.
Whatever you do look at every single label so you can be sure that it is not made in china…so many kids are getting sick from lead poisoning, you need to be very very careful when picking out toys and gifts.
If they are young enough to put toys in their mouths, buy books, board games or art crafts.
If they are over 5 and know better than to put things in their mouths and wash their hands frequently- you should be fine buying them from whatever.
